Hbs welcomes applications to the 8th Regional Summer School “Waste Less, Manage Better: Exploring Municipal Solid Waste Management in the MENA Region through an Interdisciplinary Perspective” that will take place between 27 June – 01 July, 2022 in Rabat, Morocco.

In 2022, Tunisia imported 4,161.2 tons of pesticides, reflecting a significant 33 percent decrease from the previous year. This decline is largely due to reduced cultivated areas resulting from drought and water scarcity, alongside a general lack of awareness regarding the severity of the situation and the dangers associated with pesticide use. Over the past six years (2016 to 2021), average pesticide imports consistently exceeded the 6,000-ton threshold (Figure 1), with imports comprising 52 percent fungicides, 23 percent herbicides, and 21 percent insecticides (Figure 2).
