The Effect of Marine Litter on Marine Life in the Red Sea Published: 5 January 2019 Article The Red Sea has the highest levels of hard corals (Scleractinian) in the Indian Ocean region and more than 1,280 fish species. According to scientific references, the Red Sea has the highest levels of endemic marine organisms, as 12.9% of shallow fish species and 19 out of 346 species of hard coral species (5.5%) are only found in the Red Sea.

The event was held in partnership with the Royal Marine Conservation Society (JREDS) and involved twelve environmental activists, active change makers, and researchers as well as six expert speakers from Jordan and Palestine to discuss a variety of topics related to plastic & solid waste pollution.

The event took place between July 15th – 21st, 2018.
