Semia Gharbi

Semia Gharbi is a Tunisian environmental scientist and activist who has spent over 20 years promoting environmental justice, chemical safety, and waste management. She founded the Association of Environmental Education for Future Generations (AEEFG) and co-founded the Green Tunisia Network. In 2025, she won the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize for exposing and helping to dismantle an illegal waste-trafficking operation between Italy and Tunisia, leading to the return of thousands of tons of waste and the prosecution of corrupt officials.
