From September 17th-19th, 2019, Hbs Palestine and Jordan- hosted MP Jürgen Trittin and Mr. Joern Boehme from the German Green Party during their visit to Palestine. The program included meetings with Hbs partners, political and intellectual figures, the Head of Mission of the German Representative Office in Ramallah, Mr. Christian Clages, as well with Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh. The meetings addressed current political developments, German-Palestinian relations as well as the environmental situation in occupied Palestinian territory. It also included visits to KfW projects in At Tireh and Ein Jariout and a field tour in Silwan, Jerusalem.
MP Trittin is the ranking member of the Green Committee on Foreign Affairs in the German Parliament, deputy member of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union and the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy. He also previously held the position of Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (from 1998 to 2005).
Mr. Joern Boehme is the senior advisor on the Middle East and North Africa in the parliamentary group of Alliance 90/The Greens in the German parliament since 2011. From 1995-2005 he served as Middle East advisor and coordinated the internal working committee on international policy and human rights in the parliamentary group of Alliance 90/The Greens in the German parliament.
