Muwatin, The Palestinian Institute for the study of Democracy, promotes the study and development of democracy in Palestine and in the region. It works to contribute to the process of democratic transformation in Palestinian society in particular and, in Arab society in general, throw networking and activism, research and publication, preparation of educational material and its dissemination to schools and the general public, training workshops, symposia, seminars, and conferences.
in 2012 Muwatin is concentrating on the role of young people in the promoting democracy, the institute will organize youth educational workshop for young activists on the challenges of democratic transition following the Arab Spring, due to the developments in the region that are affected by the Arab Spring. The workshop intends to stimulate youth participation in activities for change. The institute is also organizing several public events with experts and activists, to push forward the agenda of democratization and reform. On September Muwatin will conduct its Annual conference, which purpose will be to take a closer look at the Arab revolutions, their impact, the emergent political actors and the long term dynamic of the changes taking place.
