Once Upon a Water in Jordan

Reading time: 2 minutes
In cooperation with Heinrich Böll Stiftung Ramallah, our Jordanian partner organization 7iber  conducted a project to raise awareness about water issues in Jordan. Water is an important and scarce resource in the Arab region. Climate change has an immediate impact on Jordan and other Arab countries, water sources are drying up while at the same time the need for the resource increases. Agricultural policies, weak legal frameworks and even poor enforcement of regulation cause mismanagement and abuse of existing water resources.

With their project, 7iber aimed to highlight examples of how climate change is impacting people and the environment alike, using digital storytelling as a means to convey their message and to reach a broad public.

"Once Upon a Water " has sought to bring to life the stories of people and communities throughout the country that live in places where water is quickly vanishing.  With the help of independent film makers and designers, the organization produced short films, info graphics  and graffiti stencils  to visualize the stories.
