Divorce of Young Women, Reasons and Consequences
Between January and November 2012, the Heinrich Böll Stiftung is implementing a project with the CWLRC on research and advocacy about the divorce of young women in Gaza.
The center works to formulate the legal and social vision for women as the main partner to men in building the Palestinian society on the basis of democracy.
The objectives of the center are to work to adopt democratic national legislations, to guarantee the reinforcement of principle of equality between women and men, to carry out legal studies and researches, to work to protect women in the field of law effectively before the national courts and offering legal counseling, and to contribute to raise awareness on democracy, human rights in the Palestinian society and combat the legal illiteracy in our society through educational courses.
The project consists of training for the filed researchers on how to fill the research questionnaire and conduct the interviews. An analytical study is the output of the research to know more about the phenomena of the divorce of young women in Gaza Strip. The Study is accompanied by public workshops in the five governorates of Gaza Strip and radio programs on the issue to raise awareness of the public about the problems of young divorced women as a part of the campaign on changing the family law.
