Advancing the Rights of Vulnerable Palestinian Women and Children in East Jerusalem

EU Project (2014 - 2017): Advancing the Rights of Vulnerable Palestinian Women and Children in East Jerusalem

All rights reserved.

The Palestinians in East Jerusalem face serious human rights violations and are strongly disadvantaged when it comes to social inclusion, employment and access to healthcare and education.

Together with the five partners; Right to Play (RTP), War Child Holland (WCH), Sawa, the Arab Center for Agriculture Development (ACAD) and ArtLab, the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Ramallah & Jordan (hbs) has launched the EU-funded project “Advancing the Rights of Vulnerable Palestinian Women and Children in East Jerusalem” in September 2014. The project targets vulnerable women, children and youth, with a special focus on girls and women at risk of suffering from gender based violence, female entrepreneurs, children with disabilities, small scale community based organizations (CBOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working with women and children in East Jerusalem. As the lead partner, hbs oversees the project activities that include youth trainings on visual arts, support for female entrepreneurs and micro-businesses, workshops to raise awareness for violence against women, psychological relief work with children and women and awareness raising to alert the international community of the situation in East Jerusalem. The project runs until 2017 and is designed to strengthen the target group’s capacity to defend their own human and political rights.
